Oil pulling can treat bad breath, study finds




(NaturalNews) Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic practice that involves swishing oil around the mouth for 15 to 20 minutes to kill harmful oral bacteria. In addition to being a popular folk remedy in its native India, oil pulling became known in the West when a Ukrainian oncologist named F. Karach began promoting it in the early 1990s.

Today, entire books have been written about oil pulling and the online health world is ablaze with testimonies regarding its apparent health benefits. In fact, if you believe what is written on some websites and forums, there doesn't seem to be any medical condition that long-term oil pulling can't at least improve.

Though evidence of oil pulling's benefits remains largely anecdotal, a small but growing number of studies are starting to reinforce the claims of the Ayurveda. The most recent of these studies, which was published in the Journal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research in November 2014, found that oil pulling is just as effective at reducing oral malodor (bad breath) as the popular antimicrobial drug chlorhexidine.

Oil pulling vs. chlorhexidine

For the study, the Indian researchers divided 60 female students into 3 groups: The oil pulling group (who used sesame oil), the chlorhexidine group, and the control group. Over a 3-week trial period, the researchers monitored the students' plaque index, gingival index, objective and subjective organoleptic (sense organ) scores, and anaerobic bacterial colony count.

The results showed a "significant reduction" in mean scores of all the parameters within the sesame and chlorhexidine group, particularly among the organoleptic scores. Moreover, no significant differences were demonstrated between the sesame oil and chlorhexidine group, suggesting that oil pulling with the former is a cheaper and more natural alternative mouthcare remedy than taking the latter.

"Oil pulling with sesame oil is equally efficacious as chlorhexidine in reducing oral malodor and microbes causing it," concluded the authors. "It should be promoted as a preventive home care therapy."

How to oil pull

If you're interested in using oil pulling to treat oral malodor (or any other condition), follow these simple steps:

1.) Upon waking, and before eating or drinking anything, swish your favorite oil (sesame, sunflower and coconut oil are the most popular choices) around your mouth for between 15 and 20 minutes. Favor chomping and pulling motions when possible, and avoid gargling the oil.

2.) After the time is up, spit the oil into a bin (avoid using the toilet or sink, since oil can clog the pipes), then wash your mouth with some water mixed with sea salt. This solution will help kill and flush out any remaining microbes in the mouth.

3.) Lastly, brush your teeth normally using a toothbrush. Drink lots of water afterwards; not having swallowed any saliva for between 15 and 20 minutes can leave your mouth feeling dry.

For best results, repeat this practice daily. As is often the case with natural remedies, the benefits don't always occur immediately. Most people tend to report improved body odor and cleaner and whiter teeth, after a few weeks of oil pulling. However, the most impressive benefits, such as a reduction in joint pain and alleviation from depression, tend to manifest after months of regular practice.

When I finally visited Denmark...





Last night Denmark have witnessed yet another tragedy, so allow me to introduce to you Tony. He's a Danish neuroscience student and he happens to be atheist. About a year ago, he and his family visited us in beautiful Malaysia and we took them around to many Masjids and for several days, we were discussing Islam vs Atheism.

They did not accept Islam, however, once they were back, he and his family stood up for Muslim rights in Denmark against the right wing extremists. They have joined many protests with Muslims and have been raising awareness about Muslim & minority issues.

When I finally visited Denmark, they repaid the favour by hosting me on the day of my lecture to 800+ Muslims at the large Islamic Centre. They also took me on a tour to the Muslim area in the capital, and then they proceeded to purchase halal meat to cook me dinner. When I thanked them for it, they told me they always buy Halal meat all the time, because it's the best quality & price! smile emoticon Tony also joined me in meeting the president of the Islamic centre, who invited him and his family for a special tour in the largest Islamic centre in Scandinavia, Copenhagen civilization centre.

That being said, I wanted to share this story so we know that not all atheist are evil or like the crazy Chapel Hill shooter. Many of them reject religion out of the wrong information they have. Also in light of last night's attack in Denmark by a confused young person (if it turns out to be true), I pray this will not affect how most kind Danish people treat the quarter million Muslims they have welcomed in their country. There are wonderful people wherever you go and I pray for Tony and all of them and ourselves to find guidance.
Finally, I wanted to say that even though they did not accept Islam despite the heavy efforts I put in giving them Daawa, I still consider this a big success.

The Prophet peace be upon him could not guide his own uncle Abu Talib despite being a messenger of Allah, but Abu Talib ended up being a huge help for him, teaching us that if our efforts make people more positive towards Islam without accepting it, that in itself is also a great success. This also teaches me to be humble, knowing that no matter how many years I've spent seeking knowledge, Hidayah (guidance) is from Allah alone. To this day, over 4000+ white ethnic Danish reverts accepted Islam. May Allah accept, guide, and increase them. Ameen!

Berkata Imam asy-Syafi’e rahimahullah dalam kitabnya al-Umm 1/277:
وأحب أن لا يبنى ولا يجصص، فإن ذلك يشبه الزينة والخيلاء، و ليس الموت موضع واحد منهما ولم أر قبور المهاجرين والأنصار مجصصه... وقد رأيت من الولاة من يهدم بمكة ما يبقى فيها فلم أر الفقهاء يعيبون ذلك.
"Saya suka kuburan itu tidak dibangun dan dikapur kerana hal itu termasuk perhiasan dan kesombongan, sedangkan kematian bukanlah tempat untuk salah satu di antara keduanya. Dan saya tidak mendapati kuburan orang-orang Muhajirin dan Ansar dibangun... Aku mendapati para imam di Makkah memerintahkan dihancurkannya bangunan-bangunan (di atas kuburan) dan saya tidak mendapati para ulamak mencela hal itu."

 
Jabir bin ‘Abdillah radlhiallahu‘anhu berkata :
نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُجَصَّصَ الْقَبْرُ، وَأَنْ يُقْعَدَ عَلَيْهِ، وَأَنْ يُبْنَى عَلَيْهِ
Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam telah melarang kubur untuk dikapur (simen), diduduki dan dibangun sesuatu di atasnya. [Hadis riwayat Muslim, no. 970, Abu Daud, no. 3225 dan at-Tirmidzi, no. 1052]

 
Dalam riwayat yang lain disebutkan:
عَنْ أَبِي الْهَيَّاجِ الْأَسَدِيِّ، قَالَ: قَالَ لِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ: أَلَا أَبْعَثُكَ عَلَى مَا بَعَثَنِي عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ لَا تَدَعَ تِمْثَالًا إِلَّا طَمَسْتَهُ، وَلَا قَبْرًا مُشْرِفًا إِلَّا سَوَّيْتَهُ
"Dari Abu al-Hayyaj al-Asadi, dia berkata: ‘Ali bin Abi Thalib pernah berkata kepadaku: “Mahukah engkau aku utus sebagaimana Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam telah mengutusku? Hendaklah engkau tidak meninggalkan gambar-gambar kecuali engkau hapus dan jangan pula kamu meninggalkan kuburan yang ditinggikan kecuali kamu ratakan.” [Hadis riwayat Muslim, no. 969, Abu Daud, no. 3218, at-Tirmidzi no. 1049, an-Nasa’i, no. 2031]

 
Imam al-Nawawi asy-Syafi’e rahimahullah berkata ketika mengulaskan hadis di atas:
فيه أن السنة أن القبر لا يرفع على الأرض رفعاً كثيراً ولا يسنم بل يرفع نحو شبر ويسطح وهذا مذهب الشافعي ومن وافقه،
"Pada hadis tersebut terdapat keterangan bahawa yang disunnahkan kubur tidak terlalu ditinggikan di atas permukaan tanah dan tidak dibentuk seperti punuk unta. Akan tetapi hanya ditinggikan sejengkal dan meratakannya. Ini adalah mazhab asy-Syafi’i dan orang-orang yang bersepakat dengannya." [Syarh an-Nawawi ‘ala Shahih Muslim, 3/36]

 
Dia juga berkata pada kesempatan yang lain:
وَاتَّفَقَتْ نُصُوصُ الشَّافِعِيِّ وَالْأَصْحَابِ عَلَى كَرَاهَةِ بِنَاءِ مَسْجِدٍ عَلَى الْقَبْرِ سَوَاءٌ كَانَ الْمَيِّتُ مَشْهُورًا بِالصَّلَاحِ أَوْ غَيْرِهِ لِعُمُومِ الْأَحَادِيثِ
"Nas-nas dari (Imam) asy-Syafi’e dan para sahabatnya telah bersepakat tentang dibencinya membangun masjid di atas kubur. Sama sahaja, apakah si mayat itu masyhur dengan kesolehannya ataupun tidak berdasarkan keumuman hadis-hadisnya." [al-Majmu’ 5/316]

After you are through washing your body, let out half of the water. Now soap up your washrag, scrubby mitt, or whatever it is you use to wash yourself. Mop your tile, linoleum, and wooden floors with a mixture of water and vinegar. Just add 1/4 cup of vinegar to 2 gallons of warm water. Or add a few drops of your favorite essential oils to warm water.

Boil citrus peels in a pot of water, spritz the air with water mixed with a few drops of essential oils, or use a diffuser with essential oils. Better yet, open your windows and let in some fresh air.

An environmentally friendly way to clean your carpets

Various sites suggest using cornmeal and/or baking soda to dry clean your carpet. No way I am putting cornmeal into the carpets. One of the reasons carpets are so hard to get really clean is that they trap dirt between the mesh that holds the carpet fibers together and the padding underneath the carpet. Why would you want to get edible bug attracting food caught there?

Baking soda? Now that's the way to go. You not only can get carpets cleaner by sprinkling baking soda on the carpet and then vacuuming it up, the carpets will smell better, too.

You can use plain hot water to wash your carpets, or you can add essential oils or vinegar to the water. For spot cleaning, try spraying with a vinegar solution of 1:1 vinegar to water.

Remember that the first thing to do when anything spills on the carpet is to blot, blot blot. After dabbing, stand on that towel to soak up anything that is trapped under the fibers. Then pour a little boiling, hot water on the area and blot it again.

Other non-toxic cleaners

Make sure you purchase truly green cleaners for washing dishes and clothes. This is not just for the environment - it is also for you! Remember you will be ingesting any chemicals that come in contact with your dishes and your skin will soak in any chemicals that come in contact with your clothes!

As far as other cleaners, use baking soda, lemons, salt, and vinegar as much as you can to replace those toxic chemical cleaners. If you do choose to purchase cleaners, read the labels well - beware of "greenwashing". Just because it says natural, doesn't mean it is.

(NaturalNews) While the media continues to spew emotionally charged tirades about how the anti-vaccination "movement" allegedly triggered the recent measles outbreak that health authorities believe started at Disneyland, actual science suggests that the most likely cause of this insanely overblown outbreak was a person who was recently vaccinated.

Numerous published studies reveal how live-virus vaccines like MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) actually shed these diseases for many weeks or even months following vaccination, potentially infecting others, both vaccinated and unvaccinated. This means that any child who was recently given an MMR vaccine is a walking disease-spreader, a truth that the media is refusing to report as even just a possibility in this case.

The fact that vaccinated individuals can and do carry around contagious measles for many weeks while displaying no symptoms of the disease suggests that this latest outbreak might just be another example of a vaccine-strain outbreak. While a handful of the roughly 100 measles cases identified so far have tested out as wild genotype B3 measles, according to the latest reports, the original source of the outbreak has yet to be identified.

"Numerous scientific studies indicate that children who receive a live virus vaccination can shed the disease and infect others for weeks or even months afterwards," said Leslie Manookian, a documentary filmmaker and activist. "Thus, parents who vaccinate their children can indeed put others at risk."

A fairly recent example of this occurred in New York City during a measles outbreak that was documented in 2011. A twice-vaccinated individual -- that is, an individual who received two separate doses of MMR in accordance with U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations -- was found to have spread measles to multiple individuals.

Nearly two decades ago, the CDC itself came to this same disturbing conclusion in a study published in the Journal of Clinical Microbiology. Urine samples collected from newly vaccinated 15-month-old children as well as young adults revealed that nearly all of them had detectable levels of the measles virus inside their bodies, meaning they are the real contagion threat.

"In some cases, measles virus RNA was detected as early as 1 day or as late as 14 days after the children were vaccinated," explains the study about the unpredictability of the vaccine-transmitted virus.

Most disease outbreaks occur among vaccinated populations, CFR report admits

There's still so much that's unknown about the current outbreak, including where and how it actually started, that it's painfully obvious the media has a sinister agenda. The unvaccinated are the easiest scapegoats, because they're a minority (and they contradict the official story), so they're the ones being tagged as the instigators in supposedly "bringing back" this disease.

Measles has been around forever, even since the MMR vaccine was introduced, and outbreaks are quite common among both the vaccinated and the unvaccinated. In many cases, those who succumb to the disease are those who were already vaccinated, developing the condition either from the vaccine itself or from others who received the vaccine. A 2014 report published by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) has this to say about who the real instigators of disease outbreaks typically are.

According to GlobalResearch.org, the report openly states "that the most highly vaccinated populations are also those with the greatest number of outbreaks for those same infectious diseases. This was especially the case for measles, mumps, rubella, polio and pertussis outbreaks."

Oh, but vaccines only work when most everyone is vaccinated because of a magical concept known as "herd immunity," right? Not so fast. The Office of Medical and Scientific Justice (OMSJ), having thoroughly analyzed the conclusions presented in the CFR report, determined that even the CFR isn't convinced that herd immunity is a scientifically legitimate concept.

According to Global Research, the OMSJ concluded that given "the repeated incidences of infectious outbreaks in populations with 94% or more vaccine compliance [the alleged threshold when herd immunity is activated], and the emergence of new viral strains, the concept of herd immunity should be forgotten.

"The Office offers several possibilities to explain the report: 1) vaccines are increasingly becoming ineffective and causing 'immune dysfunction,' and 2) 'vaccine antigen responses' may be reprogramming viruses while weakening the immune systems of the most vaccinated individuals."

Don't expect to hear any of this from propaganda outlets like CNN, Fox and USA Today, which are preying on the weak-minded in order to advance the sentiment that unvaccinated people are a threat -- or worse, a societal scourge. If anything, the exact opposite is true when considering published science, which shows that vaccinated people are the biggest threats.

"Health officials should require a two-week quarantine of all children and adults who receive vaccinations," contends Sally Fallon Morell, president of the Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF). "This is the minimum amount of time required to prevent transmission of infectious diseases to the rest of the population, including individuals who have been previously vaccinated."

Arab World Unites in Anger After Burning of Jordanian Pilot

  AMMAN, Jordan — There was one feeling that many of the Middle East’s fractious clerics, competing ethnic groups and warring sects could agree on Wednesday: a shared sense of revulsion at the Islamic State’s latest excess, its video showing a Jordanian pilot being burned alive inside a cage.

In Syria, the government denounced the group that has been fighting it for months, but so did Qaeda fighters who oppose both the government and the Islamic State. In Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood and the Egyptian government for once agreed on something, the barbarity of the militant group for the way it murdered the Jordanian, First Lt. Moaz al-Kasasbeh. Grand Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb, the head of Cairo’s thousand-year-old Al Azhar institute and a leading Sunni scholar, was so angered that he called for the Islamic State’s extremists to be “killed, or crucified, or their hands and legs cut off.”

In a way that the beheadings of hostages had not, the immolation of Lieutenant Kasasbeh united the Arab world in an explosion of anger and disgust at the extremists, also known as ISIS or ISIL, or to most Arabs by the word “Daesh,” derived from the extremists’ Arabic acronym.

The sense of anti-Daesh unity made for strange scenes throughout the region. Jordan’s King Abdullah II, caught by surprise in Washington when the video was released, returned home not to anger at his absence, but to a hero’s welcome. Crowds lined his route from the airport to cheer Jordan’s decision to promptly retaliate by executing two convicted terrorists, both with connections to the Islamic State, only hours earlier.
Never known as a charismatic leader, King Abdullah got rave reviews at home for his tough talk in Washington, where in a meeting with congressional leaders he said his retribution would remind people of the Clint Eastwood movie “Unforgiven.”

While the propaganda video, with its vows to kill other fighter pilots bombing Islamic State positions, was clearly aimed at trying to scare Jordan out of the American-led coalition fighting the extremists, it seems to have had the opposite effect among many Jordanians. Jordan is one of a half-dozen Arab countries actively participating in the coalition, in addition to Iraq, and Jordan’s government spokesman said the kingdom would now step up its involvement.

“I guess in a way we lost a pilot, but at the same time I think the government gained a collective support for fighting them, in Jordan and from all around too,” said Adnan Abu-Odeh, a former head of Jordan’s intelligence service. “Daesh have made a big error. When you are weakened as they have been, you try to make your supporters think you are strong by being more monstrous, but this time they went too far.
In Syria, where a chaotic four-year insurgency provided the Islamic State with an incubator, both those supporting President Bashar al-Assad and those opposing him condemned the act, as did their foreign backers.

Iran, the Syrian government’s most important ally and no friend of Jordan, called the pilot’s killing “inhumane and un-Islamic.” Al Manar, the television station of another ally of the Syrian government, the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah, called it “the most gruesome” of many atrocities committed by the Islamic State.
Qatar, which opposes Mr. Assad, likewise condemned the killing as “contravening the tolerant principles” of Islam. Turkey, blamed by many in the region for allowing foreign fighters to cross its borders into Syria, where some join the Islamic State, also chimed in.
 
 President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called it an act of “savagery” that had no place in Islam, adding, “I curse and damn the burning of the Jordanian pilot.”
Denouncing the Islamic State as a “diabolical” terrorist group, Al Azhar’s leader and grand imam, Mr. Tayeb, cited Quranic verses to show that Islam forbids the burning or mutilation of enemies at war.
“This vile terrorist act,” he said in a statement issued by Al Azhar, “requires punishment as cited by the Quran for oppressors and spoilers on earth who fight God and his prophet, that they be killed, or crucified, or their hands and legs cut off.”

Al Azhar, a seat of Islamic learning, considers itself a beacon of moderation and tolerance for the Sunni Muslim world, and the statement offered no explanation for the incongruity of Mr. Tayeb’s advocating some of the same medieval punishments typically employed by extremists.

Mainstream Arab leaders reacted to the immolation in a categorically different way to the long string of hostage beheadings that preceded it. Partly that may have been because, according to many commentators Wednesday, burning someone alive is prohibited in Islam as a punishment that belongs to God alone, applied in hell. Beheadings, on the other hand, have a long Islamic history.

Others, while condemning the Islamic State, sought to draw attention to the Syrian government’s barrel bombings of cities that, according to Human Rights Watch and other organizations tracking the conflict, kill far more civilians than the extremists — however depraved and attention-grabbing the militant group’s methods.

Khaled Khoja, the president of the main Syrian exile opposition group, linked the pilot’s participation in the struggle against the Islamic State directly to his own country’s opposition’s struggle against Mr. Assad.
“Moaz’s blood has mingled with the soil of our beloved Syria, and whose remains mingled with those of hundreds of thousands of Syrians killed by Assad’s barrel bombs and the terrorist group ISIS,” Mr. Khoja said in a statement. “While I strongly condemn this barbaric act, which symbolizes pure evil that the terrorist group represents, and the deepest of depravity to which they are prepared to sink, I call upon the peoples and governments of the world to stand by the Syrian people and end their suffering caused by the Assad regime and ISIS alike.”

Ken Roth, the executive director of Human Rights Watch, said that both forms of killing should be condemned.

“ISIS’s despicable conduct shouldn’t make us lose sight of the largest killer of civilians in Syria: Assad’s barrel bombs,” he said in an email. “The world has been reluctant to address them out of a misguided sense that nothing should be done that might constrain the fight against ISIS, but barrel bombs have little if any military significance. They are so inaccurate that the Syrian air force doesn’t dare drop them near the front line for fear of hitting its own troops.”

“It will be hard to win the hearts and minds of the Syrian people by arguing that they should stand up to ISIS’s atrocities while ignoring the government’s,” he said.
